My name is Kristin
Kristin Brimager is the founder of the Family Restoration Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families impacted by incarceration through advocacy, resources, and community connection. Her vision is rooted in her own lived experience as a wife of a federal inmate and devoted mother, which has given her a unique perspective on the challenges—and the hope—that families can find even in the hardest seasons.
Kristin’s journey of balancing family responsibilities and a professional career while her husband faced a high-profile criminal case transformed a painful experience into a calling to support other families in similar situations. She believes that families are the bedrock of society and that when they remain connected during incarceration, children grow healthier, family bonds become stronger, and communities are more resilient. Her passion is to help families nurture healthy relationships and maintain a sense of unity and community, even in the most difficult seasons of life.
Kristin’s educational journey laid the foundation for her public service and critical thinking. She pursued her undergraduate studies in Political Science and Telecommunications from Calvin College, a Masters in International Affairs from Georgetown University, a Masters in Applied Intelligence, and a Masters in Public Administration/Public Policy from University of Southern California. Here she gained not only academic knowledge but also a deep appreciation for service, faith, and community. Education became a guiding influence in her life, shaping how she approaches obstacles—with persistence, humility, and a drive to keep learning.
Her professional career in the federal government, where she has served in program management and national defense readiness, strengthened her skills in navigating complex challenges. Yet Kristin’s true calling is deeply personal—breaking down the stigma surrounding families of incarcerated individuals, lifting up children and loved ones, and creating pathways to restoration.
At the heart of everything, Kristin is a woman of faith who believes in forgiveness, second chances, and the healing power of love. Her journey is a testament to resilience and determination: turning adversity into a mission of restoration, hope, and change for others.
